Silverado Contractors was contracted to perform demolition at the Grayson Generating Station, located within the Glendale Water & Power Utility Operations Center. The facility consisted of Units 1–5, which were gas/oil-fired boilers, and Unit 8, which included three gas turbines and Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs). These systems were originally constructed between 1940 and 1985.
The scope of work included the removal of all major generation equipment, including Cooling Towers 1–5, the Water Treatment area, and associated infrastructure. The boilers had supplied power to the Glendale Rack Switchyard, requiring careful planning and coordination to safely decommission equipment and disconnect utility systems. Silverado’s work supported the site’s redevelopment into a modern, more efficient energy facility.
