Silverado Contractors was contracted to perform mass and structural excavation for a new 11-story, HUD-funded low-income senior housing development in San Francisco. The project site, located within the 1906 earthquake burn zone, contained sand contaminated with elevated levels of lead, requiring careful handling and environmental compliance throughout the excavation process. In total, approximately 5,200 tons of material were safely hauled offsite for disposal.
The scope also included backfilling, compaction, and installation of subgrade rock in preparation for the new mat slab foundation. Working within a tight urban footprint, Silverado delivered a clean, stabilized site ready for vertical construction, supporting the development of much-needed affordable housing for the city’s senior population.
